What is Recovery Month?
Recovery Month is an annual observance that takes place during the month of September. Recovery Month highlights the societal benefits of sbustance abuse treatment, lauds the contributions of treatment providers, and promotes the message that recovery from substance abuse in all its forms is possible. Recovery Month also encourages citizens to take action to help expand and improve the availability of effective substance abuse treatment for those in need.
Who should get involved in The Power of Recovery Walk?
That's simple--anyone and everyone who supports recovery in their home, workplace, community and life. By putting a positive face on recovery and showing your support for those who choose recovery, you can show others that supporting recovery is one if the most powerful and rewarding things you can do.
Who should I tell about The Power of Recovery Walk?
Anyone you know in recovery or someone you know who may be struggling with addiction. Tell your family members, friends and neighbors, too! Why not pass along the information to your boss, co-workers, clients and vendors? And we encourage you to educate public officials, clergy and anyone who impacts decisions on recovery treatment.
What does sponsorship provide?
Your sponsorship dolars help defray costs as we continue to grow 2007 Power of Recovery Walk each year but most importantly help support the Alcohol/Drug 24 Hour Help Line (ADHL). ADHL is a confidential telephone service providing assistance and guidance for people with alcohol and other drug-related problems in Washington State. They are a nonprofit organization that operates on a shoestring budget and deserves all the support we can give them with the important work they do every day.
